The problem

Your online store is leaving money on the table

You have got products worth buying. But your store makes it harder than it should be. Slow pages, clunky checkout, no trust signals, poor mobile experience. Every friction point costs you sales you will never know about.

Most small e-commerce businesses start with an off-the-shelf theme and outgrow it within a year. The homepage does not tell your story. The product pages do not sell. The checkout loses people at the last step. You know something is not right because the traffic is there but the conversion rate is not.

Then there is the platform question. Shopify or WooCommerce? Hosted or self-hosted? Which apps and plugins? What integrates with your fulfilment, your accounting, your email marketing? These decisions get made once and they shape everything that follows. Get them wrong and you are rebuilding in twelve months.

We have spent the last decade inside e-commerce operations. Not just building stores, but running them. Managing stock, processing orders, handling returns, optimising product pages, testing checkout flows, configuring shipping rules. That operational experience is what separates a store that looks good from a store that actually sells.

Conversion rate stuck below industry average despite decent traffic

2

Checkout process losing customers at the final step

3

Product pages that describe but do not sell

4

No clear path from homepage to purchase

5

Mobile experience that frustrates more than it converts

6

Platform limitations holding back growth

What's included

Built to convert, not just to look good

Every decision is based on what we know sells from a decade of building and running online stores. No guesswork. No design trends for the sake of it.

01

Custom Store Design

Designed around your products, your brand, and how your customers actually shop. Not a theme with your logo dropped in. Every page is built with conversion in mind, from homepage to checkout.

02

Shopify or WooCommerce

We work with both and will recommend the right platform for your business based on your products, order volume, integrations and budget. Honest advice, not platform loyalty.

03

Product Pages That Sell

Structured product pages with the right information in the right order. Images, descriptions, trust signals, related products, and clear calls to action. The difference between browsing and buying.

Checkout Optimisation

A checkout flow designed to reduce abandonment. Guest checkout, multiple payment options, clear shipping information, and trust signals exactly where hesitation happens.

Integrations

Connected to your fulfilment, accounting, email marketing, and inventory systems. We have worked with dozens of integrations and know which ones actually work and which ones cause problems.

Mobile Commerce

Over half of all e-commerce traffic is mobile. Your store will be designed for thumbs first, with fast load times and a checkout that works on every screen size.

The transformation

Ten years of e-commerce, built into every store

This is not a sideline for us. Before Northern Collective, we spent years as Head of Studio Operations for a major UK fashion retailer, running e-commerce operations end to end. Product photography, listing management, marketplace integrations, order processing, returns handling, conversion optimisation. The full picture.

That experience means we do not just build stores that look right. We build stores that work operationally. The product data structure makes sense. The checkout flow reduces abandonment. The integrations actually talk to each other. And when something needs changing six months down the line, the site is built cleanly enough to do it without breaking everything else.

Every project is scoped individually because every e-commerce business is different. We will talk through your products, your customers, your current setup, and what you are trying to achieve. Then we will give you an honest quote.

E-commerce builds are quoted per project based on scope. Get in touch to discuss your requirements. We also offer AI and automation services for e-commerce through our consultancy arm.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Shopify or WooCommerce?
It depends on your business. Shopify is excellent for businesses that want simplicity, reliability and do not want to manage hosting. WooCommerce gives you more control and flexibility, and works well if you already have a WordPress site or need heavy customisation. We will recommend the right fit based on your products, budget and technical requirements.
How much does a custom e-commerce build cost?
Every project is different. A straightforward single-product-range Shopify store will cost less than a multi-category WooCommerce build with custom integrations. We scope every project individually and give you a clear, fixed quote before any work begins. Typical builds range from around £2,000 to £8,000 depending on complexity.
How long does it take?
Most e-commerce builds take four to eight weeks from kick-off to launch, depending on the number of products, complexity of integrations, and how quickly content and product data is available. We will give you a realistic timeline during scoping.
Can you migrate my existing store?
Yes. We handle migrations between platforms including product data, customer accounts, order history, and SEO redirects. We have migrated stores from Magento, Squarespace, Etsy, and older WooCommerce and Shopify setups.
Do you offer ongoing support?
Yes. We offer monthly support packages for product updates, content changes, platform maintenance, and performance monitoring. Ongoing support is quoted based on the level of involvement you need.
What about product photography?
We can advise on product photography setup and workflows based on years of managing studio operations. If you need a full photography service, we can connect you with specialists we trust.
